Greetings! The weavings continue! Also, more craft fairs and news!
The Winooski School District held a holiday craft fair this past weekend on the 23rd! The funny thing is, I didn't even know about it until a few weeks ago! I was talking to a co-worker at a staff-meeting at my full-time job, and she mentioned it to me. Of course, I was like WHA-WHA-WHAAAAT???? I do craft fairs too! She makes wooden cut-out earrings! they are extremely cute! (I'll see if I can get her website!) Anyway... I probed more about how she is gettin into craft fairs in Chittenden county as I have had no luck whatsoever! She ended up forwarding me all of her contacts which was incredible! I am so grateful to her!
So I showed up and had a wonderful time! And I debuted my first ever employee, Clarence. He may be a plastic rainbow chameleon skeleton, but don't be fooled. He is a hardworker who dilligently held onto my contact cards with that wonderful jaw of his. He was popular, too. I had many children grabbing him off the table or playing with his tail. A few folks even asked if I 3D printed him myself. No Way! Clarence is a man of his own making! Even moreso when I promote him.
On the topic of contact cards, I just had new ones printed! You know, ones that actually feature my web-links? Kind of IMPORTANT! I had the previous stack for almost 10 years and they feature a link to a defunct etsy shop (never again!) along with advice on how to care for a bracelet I've made. I still have so many! Probably over 300! Since I now have this beloved trash-fire of a website and a shiney new instagram, I figured what the hell- why use up the messed up ones and cross out the info manually on every. single. card. as I had been doing and instead get some new ones?! Which is EXACTLY WHAT I DID!
Oooooo, ahhhhhh, so new. so sparkly. I also fell for the vistaprint after-marketing and got a fancy little sign for myself too. I plan on using this on the front of my booth at future fairs. While it doesn't look as kooky as what I currently have (and kookiness is important to me), it will probably last longer! My current sign is on her last leg...
So? Whaddaya think?
What's next? Is there anything that could POSSIBLY be next?
Yes.
Of course there's more! there's ALWAYS more! First, I'm going to eat everything in true opossum fashion this Thursday. It's Thanksgiving that day. I see no correlation... then, NEXT Thursday, I will be at another pop-up event on December 5th from 5pm-9pm. These pop-up events take place within various businesses on the winooski circle, and I'll be at 4 quarters brewery! BIG PRETZEL!!
That's all for now! I promise I actually am taking a real for real actual definite break this time!.... Once I finish these commissions! See you again for the winter update!
Back-to-Back Art Festivals!
September 13th, 2024
I'm back! and STILL weaving things of course! It certainly has been a busy busy busy Summer this year.
Firstly, I won the stand-by lottery pick to go to the VT Queer Arts Festival in Plainfield, VT! I was delighted to be invited and I had a wonderful time! The organizers were incredible and I loved the entertainment and re-connecting with old friends I hadn't seen in years!
Just 2 weeks later, I then had a scheduled appearance at the Winooksi fiber arts Festival! The first of it's kind, and so far the MOST successful farmer's market in Winooksi (they say!). I was honored to be part of this and I hope it becomes a new thing they do. I also liked very much that it was so close to my home. All previous events I have attended have been 45 or more minutes away, and let's just say my health isn't what it used to be with the Long Covid I've got.
Speaking of which, it is time to take it easy and let the end of Summer pass and let the cooler months enfold me. A much needed break is on the horizon, with the only scheduled fair not until December (and I'm not sure if I've been accepted yet!). That'll be the Winter Queer Arts Fest 2024! In any case, after finishing any residual commissions, I'll mostly be back to making my silly little things just for me! I'll be archiving them here as usual. Lots more to look at on the Gallery page! There will probably be plenty accrued by December.
I also got the 2025 Possum Pal-endars printed, featuring a very special possum-y theme! For those unfamiliar- and of course you are because I haven't mentioned it here before, haha- every year since 2019 I have been printing my own calendars featuring my 2D art. They are ALWAYS opossum themed. Most of the time they are stream of consciousness little ideas I come up with over the course of the year, but THIS year I decided to try something a little different and do a *themed* themed calendar (that's uh... DOUBLE themed)
I am proud to present the theme of THIS years calendar: MOVIE POSTER PARODIES! WITH OPOSSUMS!!
I freaking LOVED making this. I usually print a few dozen of them and give them out as holiday gifts. The residuals I sell or give away! If you'd like to reserve your own, I suspect I will have 10 left to give away. Use the CONTACT page and select "2025 Possum Pal-Endar" to reserve one. They will be $25 each!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for reading this incredibly long update. I will be trying to do this at least seasonally from now on. See you soon!
I'm Hopping into SPRING!
March 8th, 2024
On March 16th, I will again be vending! I'll tell you, I am READY for Spring. Usually I don't have any specific preference for seasons, but this Winter was so disappointing snow-wise, that I am just ready for the wet gloom to be replaced with wet gloom but with FLOWERS!
Can we make the flowers happen faster???
Anyways, the organizer of this event seems very connected and experienced, so I am excited to get to know the group over there! Foot-traffic notwithstanding, it will be a good time I think!
Join me from 10am-4pm on March 16th, 2024 at Crossett Brook Middle School for some cute weavings! More possums, of course, but also more dogs and other fun things.
Warm Fuzzies Gave ME the Warm Fuzzies!
February 13th, 2024
On February 10th, I was at the Warm Fuzzies Pop-Up Valentine's Day Gift Shop with my weavings at the Burlington OddFellows Community Center!
While it wasn't busy, I met a lot of great people and got to see and talk to TONS of wonderful artists I'd never seen before!
This is why I do this! To make friends and share my passions for the craft!
Stay tuned for another Springtime show soon! The next one I have secured is March 16th in Duxbury, VT. See you there!
